Soft Chuck Jaws supply the greatest concentricity on 2nd or finish turning operations. Soft Chuck jaws can be bored or turned to fit all workpieces. General-purpose blank soft jaws are also referred to as "long" or "offset" jaws. Steel soft jaws may be case hardened after machining, or left soft. Soft Jaws in various heights are available. Pointed Soft Jaws are great for turning small-diameter parts being pointed, the soft chuck jaws can be brought in to close nearer to the center of the chuck. The included angle on pointed soft jaws is 120°. Centered tongue soft jaws are available for tongue and groove lock type soft chuck jaws, These soft jaws can be machined on both sides because mounting holes are centered. Also useful for large-diameter parts because less soft jaw-material removal is required.Steel Soft Chuck Jaws are made from 1018 or 1050 steel. Aluminum soft jaws from T6061 or 7075 aluminum. 7075-T6 Aluminum is Premium, aircraft grade Aluminum and is used to make soft jaws for longer, repeated runs. Soft Chuck Jaws made from 7075 aluminum are lighter than steel ( and thus can provide greater gripping power at higher speeds). 7075 aluminum Soft jaws are 25% stronger than mild steel soft chuck jaws.

Soft Jaws from U S Shop Tools are available in Pointed or Flat end styles. Soft chuck jaws are available in various lock types 1.5mm x 60° serrations, 3.0mm x 60° serrations, 1/16 x 90° serrations, 3/32 x 90° serrations, Tongue and Groove, Acme and square serrated key type serrations and Northfield style. We carry a very large variety of soft jaws for all makes and models in both our East and West Coast warehouses.

Round Chuck Jaws ( also called Pie Jaws, Full Grip Jaws, Full Circle jaws) are used widely in the wheel industry and other industries where it is necessary for the workpiece to be held in place completely. Irregularly shaped parts, thin walled parts and non-cylindrical parts are common applications where round pie jaws are used. Round chuck jaws are used where increased surface gripping is necessary with minimal part marring. Round Chuck jaws are available in various pie diameters and heights. Oftentimes it is necessary to hold an oversized part in such cases oversized round jaws may be used. For example a 14" diameter part needs to be held on a 10" diameter chuck. In such a case the part may be held with a 15" diameter set of round pie jaws that have been made with the critical dimensions to fit a 10" chuck. U S Shop Tools carries a large variety of Round Jaws in stock for chucks ranging from 4" to 24" in diameter. Round Pie jaws are available made from Aluminum, Steel and Cast Iron. Round chuck jaws made from 6061 T-6 solid bar stock in diameters up to 18" are available. Larger diameter Round jaws are made from super high quality castings for greatest evenness of weight distribution. Steel round jaws are made from 1018 steel. Round Pie Jaws are available in various lock types 1.5mm x 60° serrations, 3.0mm x 60° serrations, 1/16 x 90° serrations, 3/32 x 90° serrations, Tongue and Groove, Acme and square serrated key type serrations and Northfield style. We carry a very large variety of Round chuck jaws for all makes and models in both our East and West Coast warehouses.

Hard Chuck Jaws are available in various lock types 1.5mm x 60° serrations, 3.0mm x 60° serrations, 1/16 x 90° serrations, 3/32 x 90° serrations, Tongue and Groove, Acme and square serrated key type serrations. We carry a very large variety of Hard chuck jaws for all makes and models in both our East and West Coast warehouses. Hard Chuck Jaws may be used for first operation roughing. They are reversible and have gripping serrations to secure the part. Available in 1 or 2 steps hardened Steel. Hard jaws are hardened to 56-58 Rc. Black oxided for long life. Our American made hard jaws are made with diamond shaped teeth for maximum gripping power. We also carry import hard jaws for Kitagawa, Howa, MMK and other Japanese chucks. These hard jaws have ground gripping surfaces where they contact the part providing better concentricity. However, being that Hard jaws are primarily a roughing operation jaw gripping power and not concentricity is usually their main purpose.

Jawnuts are available with high quality hardened socket head cap screws or without screws.

Collet Pads were originally used on Turret lathes - these days they can be adapted to be used on all common jaw chucks. The way it works is as follows: Replace your existing jaws with a set of special collet pad top jaws from U S Shop Tools - made specifically for your particular chuck. These special jaws are made to hold Warner Swassey style turret lathe pads. They have a screw hole bored through them so that you can easily change pads from one size to another without having to remove the jaws. Now depending on the size of your workpiece or the bar that you need to run through your machine you can purchase various sizes and shapes of collet pads. Collet pads are available with the inside bore Round - with smooth or serrated inside surface; Square - with smooth or serrated inside surface; Hex - with smooth or serrated inside surface. Emergency Pads are also available - these are very popular - because they are soft and can be bored by the machinist to the desired shape and size.
